DATES 1 - 4 MAY 2014.

Details will appear on our festival website - click here.

We started our festival in April 2008 and have been delighted to see it grow into a major highlight of Hampshire’s cultural calendar.  It is the county’s only annual festival dedicated solely to professional chamber music and we invite top guest artists each year to perform alongside us.  The Artistic Directors are Kate Gould, who was born in Winchester and received her formative musical training there, and Daniel Tong. Guests over the years have included Lucy Gould, Robert Plane, Ania Safonova, Matthew MacDonald, Sara Bitlloch, Krysia Osostowicz, Malin Broman, Alice Neary and David Adams.

For our sixth Festival in April this year we were joined by three more wonderful guests; Esther Hoppe, Krzysztof Chorzelski and Richard Lester. There was some wonderful and intense music-making, based around our three main themes; music from the Russian and French schools alongside the complementary genius of Haydn and Mozart. Firefly Burning provided us with a memorable late-night concert and it was inspiring to see and hear the results of our primary schools' outreach project, led by Sam Glazer and Jack Ross. The 2013 festival also featured a masterclass, open rehearsal and discussion with the artists - a real feast of chamber music.

Audience members tell us that as well as the music, a treasured feature of the Festival for them is its informality and intimacy. Nothing could make us more happy. This includes the musicians introducing some of the concerts, audience chatting with us before the concert, in interval breaks and over a drink at the nearby Festival Club.

Come along in April if you want to experience top class chamber music and a relaxed and convivial atmosphere in a venue where you can get close to the action.
